Denis Allchurch

Denis Allchurch is one person who can definitely see the forest for the trees. Although Denis' constituency is mainly agriculture based, he has also been a booster of the constituency's forestry industry. Mr. Allchurch was born in Rabbit Lake and raised on the family farm in the Meeting Lake District, where he was one of nine children. Mr. Allchurch and his wife Sheila have three sons and two granddaughters. Mr. Allchurch has over 25 years experience as a businessman in the recreational field. Mr. Allchurch is a proven leader in the constituency. After serving three terms as an Alderman, Mr. Allchurch was elected Mayor of Spiritwood in 1994. He was elected to the provincial legislature in 1999. On top of his official leadership, Mr. Allchurch has a long record of community service. He served as President on the Parks and Recreation board, the Witchekan Wildlife Federation and the Spiritwood Snowball Riders Snowmobile Club. He served as a director for the Spiritwood branch of Ducks Unlimited, as well as Spiritwood Lodge and hospital building project. Mr. Allchurch is an EMO attendant and an operator of the Jaws of Life. He enjoys playing fastball and has spent many years coaching children. Mr. Allchurch's support of the area's forestry industry is part of what drives him to represent the constituency in the legislature. "Forestry is perhaps Saskatchewan's number one premium natural resource. Thanks to science and environmental utilization, we can successfully apply all the aspects of forestry into our everyday life. Not only does it create employment, but it also enhances the beauty of the province by preserving our wildlife and environment. Programs like the development of recreational opportunities and domestic livestock grazing ensures the maximum benefit to nature and to us all. Forestry is no longer just a timber industry." Mr. Allchurch is currently a member of the caucus' Standing Policy Committee on Human Services and is also a member of the legislature's Standing Committee on Human Services. |
