MLA Moosomin

Over nearly two decades of service, Don Toth has proven his commitment to the people of the Moosomin constituency.

Don was first elected to represent the Moosomin constituency in the 1986 general election. He was re-elected in 1991, 1995, 1999, 2003 and 2007.  He was named as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan on December 10, 2007, the first day of the opening session of the 26th Legislature.

Don was born in Kipling and raised on the family farm near Langbank. Don studied Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan and then entered the Full Gospel Bible Institute in Eston, Saskatchewan.

Prior to his political career, Don served his community on a number of boards and organization and also served on an RM council.
 
In the Legislature, he has served as the Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Health and as Chairman of the Crown Corporations Committee. He has also served as Chairman of the Special Committee on Regulations and Opposition Critic for Justice.  As one of the eight founding members of the Saskatchewan Party, Don has served as the Opposition's Deputy House Leader and Deputy Whip. His critic duties also included Health, Highways, Labour, Public Service Commission, ocial Services, and public Safety and Corrections.  Don also served as the Deputy Critic for Culture, Youth and Recreation.

Mr. Toth is currently a member of the legislature's Privileges House Committee, the House Services House Committee and Chair of the Board of Internal Economy.

Aside from his political duties, Don keeps himself busy with singing, golfing with his son, spending time with family and friends, especially his granddaughter.  He and his wife Lois continue to run the family's mixed farm in Langbank. They have three children.
