Saskatchewan Party MLA
Michael Chisholm
Cut Knife-Turtleford

MLA Cut Knife-Turtleford

Respected in his community as an accountant and financial advisor, a successful farmer himself, and a selfless contributor to his community, Michael Chisholm was elected to the Cut Knife - Turtleford Constituency for the first time in 2003.  His decision to run in the newly created constituency was motivated by his strong belief in what Saskatchewan could be - and his frustration in an NDP government who were not realizing (or even focused on realizing) that potential.

Mr. Chisholm was re-elected in the 2007 provincial election.  Mr. Chisholm is also a member of the caucus' Standing Policy Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice and is also a member of the legislature's Standing Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice, as well as the Public Accounts Committee.

Originally hailing from Maidstone, where he spent his childhood, Mr. Chisholm's education took him to St. Thomas College in North Battleford, Lakeland College in Vermillion for Agriculture Plant Science, and the University of Alberta for dual Bachelor degrees in Arts and Commerce.  While at the University of Alberta, Mr. Chisholm was heavily involved with student leadership, service management and the strategic planning of the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton.  In 1977, Mr. Chisholm returned to Maidstone with his family to become a fourth generation to operate Chisholm Farms.

In addition to farming, in 1980 Mr. Chisholm began his most recognizable service to the community in providing accounting services through the firm of A.M. Alm C.A. in Lloydminster - laterally Brannick and Blanchard CGAs.  His personal commitment to his clients, his practical knowledge of the local economy, and his expertise in Canadian Tax made him a trusted partner to a wide network of contributors in the local community.  Mr. Chisholm's community involvement included serving as a trustee for both the Maidstone School District and the Battle River School Division.  He also served as an advisory board member for Lakeland College, a board member for the Twin Rivers Health District and as the Treasurer of the Maidstone Catholic Church.

Mr. Chisholm is married to Heather Chisholm, a registered nurse, active community volunteer and advocate for care of the elderly.  Mr. Chisholm and Heather raised three sons in the local community.  Stephan is a well known broadcaster and local radio personality.  Bradley is a lawyer currently serving in the office of the Alberta Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.  Ian is a management consultant focusing on leadership systems, succession and engagement.
