Doug Steele Acclaimed as 2024 Saskatchewan Party Candidate for Cypress Hills August 24, 2023

FOX VALLEY, SK – Tonight, Doug Steele was acclaimed as the Saskatchewan Party nominated candidate for Cypress Hills in the 2024 provincial election.

“I want to thank all of the constituents and supporters here in our constituency,” Steele said. “It’s been a privilege to represent the residents of Cypress Hills since 2016, and I will continue working hard for them in the lead up to the 2024 election.”

Steele was first elected in the 2016 provincial election and was re-elected in 2020.

He has served as Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Energy and Resources and as a member of the Standing Committee on the Economy. Steele is currently Deputy Government Whip, the Legislative Secretary to the Minister responsible for SaskPower and SaskEnergy, Chair of the Private Bills Committee, as well as a member of the Standing Committee on the Economy.

Before entering politics Steele worked in the grain industry for 19 years. He has served on numerous committees and boards such as he Nuclear Waste Management Organization, the SaskDocs (Physician Recruitment) Committee, Rural Economic Development Committee, MREP (Municipal Roads for the Economy Program) Committee, and many other SARM-appointed committees.

Steele and his wife Phyllis own and operate a fourth-generation family farm and have three grown children and 4 grandchildren.  

With this nomination, the Saskatchewan Party has nominated a total of 18 candidates for the next provincial election.
