MLA Regina Qu'Appelle Valley

Laura Ross was elected as the MLA for Regina Qu’Appelle Valley in the 2007 provincial election.

Ms. Ross was born and raised on a farm near Yorkton.   She attended the University of Regina where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and Sociology.

A businessperson and volunteer, Ms. Ross has performed advocacy work on behalf of seniors, raised funds for charitable organizations such as Transition House and the Salvation Army and served on the executive of organizations promoting equal rights for women.


Appointed in 2007 by Premier Wall as Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Health, responsible for retention and recruitment of nurses, Ms. Ross played a significant role in the recruitment of hundreds of highly skilled nurses from the Philippines. Premier Wall then appointed Ms. Ross as the Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Health, Surgical Wait Times and Long-Term Care Initiative.

In addition to her duties as Legislative Secretary, Laura serves on the Legislative Committee on the Economy and as Vice-Chair of the caucus Standing Policy Committee on the Economy.

She and her husband Terry, a biology laboratory instructor at the University of Regina, have one son and two delightful grandchildren.
