Ken Cheveldayoff
Saskatoon Silver Springs
Ken Cheveldayoff is an entrepreneur with a history of leadership, public service and community involvement. After graduating high school in his hometown of Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan, Mr. Cheveldayoff attended Carleton University in Ottawa, the University of Saskatchewan and Newport University in Southern California, receiving a B.A. (Honours) in Economics and Political Science in 1988 and a Masters of Business Administration in 1996. Prior to being elected Mr. Cheveldayoff worked with Western Economic Diversification assisting individual businesses and industries to grow and expand. He has been an active member of the Saskatoon community through service with the Children's Health Foundation, the Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce, the North Saskatoon Business Association, and the Provincial Exporters Association. Mr. Cheveldayoff was first elected as MLA for Saskatoon Silver Springs in 2003. As an Opposition Member he served as the Critic for Post-Secondary Education and later, Finance. After his re-election in 2007 and the formation of the first Saskatchewan Party government, Mr. Cheveldayoff was privileged to serve as Minister of Crown Corporations. In May 2009, he became Minister of Enterprise, Minister Responsible for SaskEnergy and Minister Responsible for Trade. Mr. Cheveldayoff is currently a Senior Vice President on the 2010 Saskatchewan World Junior Hockey Championship Host Organizing Committee. He is a member of the CIC Board, Chair of the Economic Development Sub-Committee, Chair of the Enterprise Saskatchewan Board, Member of the Saskatchewan Development Fund Corporation and a member of the Standing Policy (Caucus) Committee on the Economy. Mr. Cheveldayoff played competitively with both the Saskatoon Hilltops and the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Football teams and is a huge Roughrider fan. He and his wife Trish Cheveldayoff, a professional television broadcaster, have two pre-teenage children – Carter and Paige.
