David Marit was first elected as the MLA for Wood River in the 2016 provincial election. He was re-elected in 2020.
Born and raised in the area, he has very strong ties to his community. David began serving on RM Council in 1993 and in 1999 was elected to the SARM Board as Directors for Division 2. He would go on to serve as SARM President until winning the nomination for the Saskatchewan Party.
David has served as Minister of Highways and Infrastructure, as well as Minister responsible for SaskBuilds and Priority Saskatchewan. He is currently Minister of Agriculture and Minister responsible for Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation. He also serves as Vice-Chair of the Red Tape Reduction Committee and as a member of the Sask Builds Capital Management Committee.
He and his wife Lois have one son, and a daughter with two granddaughters and one grandson.
