Rylund Hunter won a contested nomination on May 15, 2019, to become the Saskatchewan Party nominated candidate for Saskatoon Meewasin in the 2020 provincial election.

Hunter is currently a lawyer with McDougall Gauley. In addition, he co-owns a business called The Backyard which provides entertainment for youth and children in Saskatoon and the surrounding area.

Hunter also sits on numerous boards including the Saskatoon Public Schools Foundation, Kid Sport Saskatoon, Autism Services of Saskatoon, Huskie Football Alumni Association, and Saskatoon Minor Football.
