Bill Boyd to be Nominated Today as Candidate for Kindersley
Eston— This evening, Kindersley MLA Bill Boyd will be nominated for what will be the sixth time as the Saskatchewan Party candidate in Kindersley for the next provincial election.
“I want to thank the constituents of Kindersley,” Boyd said. “I am honoured to run again and I appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve them. I look forward to working hard to continue to represent the fine people of the Kindersley constituency.”
Boyd was first elected to the Legislature representing the Kindersley constituency in 1991. Boyd was re-elected again in 1995, 1999, 2007 and 2011.
When the Saskatchewan Party formed Government in 2007, Boyd was appointed as Minister of Energy and Resources, Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Power Corporation, Minister Responsible for Uranium Development Partnership, and the Minister Responsible for Innovation.
Boyd’s cabinet duties changed to include SaskTel and the Global Transportation Hub in 2010. In 2012, Premier Brad Wall appointed Bill as Minister of the Economy, Minister Responsible for the Global Transportation Hub and Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Power Corporation. In 2014, Premier Wall asked Bill to continue serving as Minister of Economy, adding the responsibility of Energy & Resources.
“We have seen a lot of great things happen in the province in the last few years,” Boyd said. “Never before has there been such unbridled optimism and enthusiasm in Saskatchewan. We have just seen the lowest unemployment on record and record high exports. Saskatchewan is the place to be.”
Boyd is proud of the Saskatchewan Party government’s record and feels that Premier Brad Wall is a strong leader.
“It is an exciting time in our province, and we have seen continued growth and success. The leadership from Premier Wall and the Saskatchewan Party Government will continue to move Saskatchewan forward.
With Boyd’s nomination as the candidate for Kindersley, the Saskatchewan Party has nominated 38 candidates for the next provincial election.
