On July 15th, the first tanker carrying western Canadian oil arrived in eastern Canada after a month's long journey and passing through the Panama Canal.
That means our oil needs to travel 12,000km around the entire continent to get from the coast of British Columbia to the east coast.
There is a better way to get western Canadian oil across our country, and that is through pipelines.
The Energy East Pipeline was supposed to be a 4,500km long pipeline and transport more than one million barrels a day directly across Canada.
However, Justin Trudeau and the NDP killed it and now we're stuck shipping oil in tankers.
This is wrong.
We should be able to build pipelines to get our oil to market without Justin Trudeau or the NDP trying to stop us.
