High schools in Saskatchewan will soon pilot financial literacy classes for students. Financial literacy classes will expand and be provided province-wide by February 2020.

Topics could include:

  • mortgages;
  • compound interest;
  • promissory notes; and,
  • understanding financial risks.

These changes to our financial literacy classes across Saskatchewan will provide our Saskatchewan grade 6-12 students with the skills they need to be financially literate and to understand the basic steps that will lead them to own their first home, invest their money, and make the right financial decisions.

With the help of various government and financial organizations in collaboration with the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation, we can implement this change successfully.
