Herb Cox to be Nominated Tonight as Candidate for The Battlefords

May 21, 2014

NORTH BATTLEFORD—Saskatchewan Party MLA Herb Cox will be nominated tonight as the Saskatchewan Party candidate in The Battlefords for the next provincial election.

“I’ve certainly enjoyed my first term as MLA for The Battlefords,” Cox said. “I am honored to have the opportunity to be part of the Saskatchewan Party team again and I hope to be able to continue to represent the interests of The Battlefords in our Legislature after the next election.”

Cox has always been very involved in his community and active in several organizations, including: three terms as president of the Association of Battlefords Realtors, member of the Town of Battleford Industrial Planning Committee, chair of the Terry Fox Ride, sports chair for Zone 7 Winter Games, and president of the Canadian Team Penning Association. Along with these activities he also found time to be a minor hockey coach for 11 years and 4-H leader for seven years.

Cox was elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature in the 2011 provincial election.

He is a member of the Public Accounts Committee, a member of the Crowns and Central Agencies caucus policy committee and a member of the Caucus Management Committee. In February 2013, Cox became a member of the New Ideas Committee.

Cox is pleased that Saskatchewan remains on a path of steady growth.

“I am proud of our government’s record in reducing surgical wait times, building more seniors homes and schools and improving, building or repairing literally thousands of kilometers of highways,” Cox said. “There is still more work to be done and I am excited to be part of the team that is moving Saskatchewan forward.”

Cox believes Premier Brad Wall and the Saskatchewan Party are making important investments in our province and its people.

“Here in Saskatchewan we are so fortunate to have the most respected premier in Canada guiding our way into the future,” Cox said. “Our government’s commitment to balanced budgets, steady growth and concern for those less fortunate are what makes me proud to be a member of the Saskatchewan Party government.”

With Cox’s nomination as the candidate for The Battlefords, the Saskatchewan Party has nominated 27 candidates for the next provincial election.
