John Owojori Wins Contested Nomination in Saskatoon Southeast
April 15, 2024SASKATOON, SK – Tonight, Dr. John Owojori won a contested nomination to be the Saskatchewan Party’s candidate for Saskatoon Southeast in the 2024 provincial election. He defeated two other candidates.
“I am humbled by this great opportunity. Thank you so much for your support,” Owojori said. “I am committed to giving back to my community and helping to drive change.”
Owojori is a soil ecotoxicologist with a Ph.D. from Stellenbosch University, South Africa and postdoctoral fellowships in Canada and Germany. His first visit to Canada was to work as an expert scientist on a University of Saskatchewan led project focused on eco-restoration in the boreal shield. Owojori has also served as a professor and visiting professor in Nigeria and South Africa. He decided to make Saskatoon his new home in 2009.
Since moving to Saskatoon, Owojori has founded several businesses, including a certified driving school, an immigration consultancy, and a business consulting firm. Owojori is deeply involved in community service, holding leadership roles in several organizations, including the Fruitful Vine Foundation, the Black Professionals and Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan, Conservative Black Congress of Canada, Saskatchewan Chapter and Community Associations.
Owojori lives in Saskatoon with his wife, Rachael, a registered nurse and artiste, and their three sons.
The Saskatchewan Party has now nominated 47 candidates ahead of the 2024 provincial election.
