David Marit Acclaimed as the Saskatchewan Party Candidate for Wood River

Assiniboia, SK – Last night, David Marit was acclaimed as the Saskatchewan Party Candidate for the constituency of Wood River for the next provincial election, expected in 2020.
“I am prepared to continue to represent the Saskatchewan Party as we head towards the next provincial election.” Marit said, “I’ve lived in rural Saskatchewan all my life and will continue to be a strong voice for rural Saskatchewan if elected for a second term.

Marit served on RM Council in 1993 and 1999 and was then elected to the SARM board as Director for Division 2. He served as the President of SARM until winning the Wood River Nomination and then elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature for the 2016 provincial election.
Marit has served in cabinet as the Minister of Highways and Infrastructure and Minister responsible for SaskBuilds and Priority Saskatchewan. On August 15, 2018, Marit was appointed Minister of Agriculture and Minister responsible for Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation.
“Our Saskatchewan Party government is moving our province forward by continuing to invest in our people.” Marit stated, “I am ready to continue to stand next to our Premier and stand up for our province.”
Marit was born and raised in the Wood River area and has strong ties to his community. Marit and his wife Lois have two children and two granddaughters.
With this nomination, the Saskatchewan Party has nominated a total of 6 candidates for the next provincial election with 11 more nomination meetings scheduled before the end of the year.
The next nomination meeting will be held in the constituency of Saskatoon Northwest on October 18, 2018.
