“Based on how devoted he is to community service, I know that Todd Goudy will be a great MLA for the residents of the Melfort constituency,” said Premier Moe. “I know that Todd will continue the excellent work of former MLA Kevin Phillips, and will stand up for the residents of Melfort and across Saskatchewan.”

Goudy emphasized that Premier Moe and the Saskatchewan Party will continue to stand up to the federal government against the imposed carbon tax, saying it is inefficient and ineffective, and will disproportionately affect those that work in the agriculture sector in the Melfort constituency.

“The Saskatchewan Party government has put forward a made-in-Saskatchewan climate change plan – not a crippling tax that is imposed upon us by the Trudeau government,” said Todd Goudy. “In contrast, the Saskatchewan NDP and their two leadership candidates want to join Trudeau and implement the carbon tax here in Saskatchewan! Instead of standing up for Saskatchewan, the NDP is selling out the citizens of this province.”

Since the Saskatchewan Party was elected in 2007, the Melfort constituency has seen a decade of growth. In that time, government investments in education, health care, and highways have increased significantly. In addition, revenue sharing to the City of Melfort has increased by nearly 150 per cent since 2007.

“Along with population growth, the Saskatchewan Party has helped grow this province through investment in important, core government services,” said Goudy. “I look forward to getting to work with others and seeing growth continue in this province.”
