Refugee initiative cannot be date, quota driven: Premier Wall November 16, 2015

November 16, 2015 – Premier Brad Wall writes to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau asking him to suspend and re-evaluate his plan to take in 25,000 Syrian refugees by the end of the year and said the following:

"This refugee initiative cannot be date driven nor quota driven. Safety and security must be the priority.

Canada is a welcoming country and Saskatchewan is a welcoming province. It should remain so.

But our first job as government is the safety of our citizens. If there is even the slightest possibility that a rushed refugee resettlement process will compromise the safety of our people, that is not a risk we should take."
