SaskParty Will Extend Glucose Monitoring Coverage to Seniors and Young Adults
October 09, 2024A re-elected Saskatchewan Party government will extend coverage for glucose monitoring and supplies to seniors and young adults living with diabetes.
Following the 2020 election, the Saskatchewan Party government fulfilled an election commitment to provide coverage at no cost for continuous and flash glucose monitors for children and youth under age 18.
“If re-elected, we will extend that coverage to young adults up to age 25,” said Premier Scott Moe. “We will also extend coverage for glucose monitoring for seniors age 65 and over.
“Glucose monitoring can really help those who need it improve their health and quality of life.”
About 9000 seniors age 65 and over and 700 young adults ages 18 to 25 will benefit from the extension of coverage, in addition to the 600 children and youth who are currently covered. Both flash and continuous glucose monitors will be covered.
“Improving the lives of people living with diabetes - that’s one more way a strong economy means a bright future for everyone in Saskatchewan.”
