January 25, 2018For immediate release:
Melfort, SK - Last night, Todd Goudy was nominated by members to be the Saskatchewan Party’s candidate in the upcoming Melfort by-election. Over 800 members cast a ballot at the meeting at the Kerry Vickar Centre in Melfort.
"I'm honoured to be nominated by members of the Saskatchewan Party to represent our party in the upcoming Melfort by-election," said Goudy. "I look forward to working with the new Premier to continue to grow Saskatchewan and make it the most prosperous and best province to live, work, and raise a family in Canada.”
Goudy noted that, if elected in the Melfort by-election, he's excited to join the Saskatchewan Party caucus and stand against the carbon tax and the NDP’s desire to introduce it here in Saskatchewan.
"The carbon tax is inefficient, ineffective, and was forced on us by the federal government," said Goudy. "However, the Saskatchewan NDP and their leadership candidates love this policy and want to implement it here in Saskatchewan. The Saskatchewan Party is not going to do that."
Goudy, who is the pastor at the Baptist Church in Melfort, has also served as a school board trustee in the Melfort area. He and his wife, Tannis, live in Melfort and have six children.
The date for the Melfort by-election has not been announced yet, but is expected to take place in the coming months.
